The Campus Transformation
Gigg26 is a £1million multi-phase project, designed to transform the campus and provide the School with the capacity and resources we need for growth. The project has four key deliverables; future proofing the school, supporting academic excellence, enhancing the boarding experience and reclaiming the school's heritage.

Phase 1: The Gateway to the School
SUMMER 2023
2023 saw the much-anticipated return of junior boarding. Pupils are now able to board at Catteral Hall from Year 4 and numbers are already starting to grow. This development has been welcomed by parents, existing and new, as it allows much greater flexibility as their families grow.
This first phase of Gigg26 will see some of the communal downstairs spaces of Catteral refreshed and modernised, including the main hall, the changing rooms and the boys bathrooms.
Phase 2: Reclaiming Heritage Spaces
WINTER 2023
Giggleswick School has an outstanding collection of buildings and artefacts that together encompass and celebrate over 500 years of the school's history. In order to provide a vibrant and desirable campus for our pupils we must continue to modernise, whilst protecting the integrity of our historic buildings.
This phase of Gigg26 will see the Assembly Hall and Blue Room restored to their former glory and they will become flexible multi-use spaces that showcase our magnificent history.

Phase 3: Enhancing Boarding Communities
SUMMER 2024
The Hostel Block currently comprises three houses, Nowell, Paley and Shute, each serving a small community of boarders across all year groups. By combining the three houses into two – Paley and Nowell - we can significantly improve the experience of our boys from years 9 to 13. Senior House Staff will be able to live in house along with House Tutors, ensuring pupils have 24 hour supervision and care, and, with larger houses and bigger year groups, we will ensure a core of boarders in each house every night in every year group.
The Shute House name will endure - it will continue to be celebrated and it will be conserved until it is used again as part of our longer-term plans for the development of our boarding accommodation.
Phase 4: Preparing Pupils for their Future
WINTER 2024
Phase 4 of Gigg26 will see the creation of the new Craven Bank Sixth Form Centre. Located at the heart of the School this will see the colocation of Head of 6th Form and Careers as well as generating new social and study spaces. This will also allow for the development of two further staff (resident tutor) accommodation units on the first floor.
Using the student voice we will shape new and flexible learning spaces as well as indoor and outdoor social areas.

Phase 5: Improved Teaching & Learning Spaces
WINTER 2025 - SUMMER 2026
In this final phase, we will utilise the spaces freed up by the preceding developments to create brand new classrooms fully equipped for the demands of modern teaching and learning. We will also create a new quad that will connect the classrooms to the main hostel block.
Finally, the Sharpe Library will be updated to give a fresher, more modern feel, with places for quiet study and for group learning. The entrance to the library will also be redeveloped and upgraded.
The school campus currently has ample space to accommodate our target expansion, and with the careful and creative reconfiguration of some key spaces we can achieve our initial growth with an investment of £1m.
School resources alone, however, will not bring this project to fruition.
